Diane Krasner, PhD, RN, CWCN, CWS, MAPWCA, FAAN, a renowned wound and skin care expert, will review the latest strategies in the prevention and treatment of skin tears, including: 1\. Evidence that the use of a skin care regimen decreases the incidence of skin tears and their related costs. 2\. Nutrient- based products, as part of a skin care regimen, offer the most effective solution to the prevention of skin tears. 3\. Staff education, proper positioning, protective clothing, turning, lifting and transferring techniques are key components to an effective skin tear prevention program.
